How my boring bus ride became interesting

I was coming from Mumbai to Pune. It takes around 4-5 hours due to traffic in mumbai. Once you are out of mumbai, the mumbai-pune expressway is just too good. The bus passes through lonavala. I was as usual sitting in the bus fiddling with my cellphone which was running short of battery.

I didn’t realize we had reached lonavala. All of a sudden the bus stopped. We all looked up. After 15 minutes someone came and said, something went wrong, it is being repaired. We all got down from the bus. It was monsoon and lonavala was at its best. The clouds falling over the mountains was just mesmerising. There was a beautiful fog. I realised what a beautiful scene I was missing. Today we have become so accustomed to our gadgets that we just ignore the simple beauties of life. I gave up all the worries, kept my cellphone inside the bag and began to enjoy the ride. A little way further, the bus stopped at a restaurant. In that beautiful cloudy, foggy yet breezy weather, I had onion fries and a cup of steaming hot tea. There was a small bookshop there. As I was going through the books, my eyes fell on a book “Anything for you, mam”. I bought it and began reading. It was a cute, urban love story set in the backdrop of engineering college. The book made my ride even more enjoyable.

After coming home, I couldn’t help writing a review on that book. But I would’nt have enjoyed the ride so much had the bus not stopped. As murphy’s law states “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong”. We must accept this and learn to thank anything and everything that happens.

As part of today’s assignment, I was to explore the blogging world. While I was going through the blogs, the most attractive ones were the travel blogs. The first thing that stuck me was they were all based on the thought “Follow your heart”. These were mostly people working in corporate sector and taking up travelling like http://thesoulshines.wordpress.com/about/. In olden days it was said, there is nothing more satisfying than travelling. These were the people who had ventured to distant lands and had gained vast knowledge. The fact seems to hold true even today.

Some new strangers on the way.

Some new strangers on the way.

When you travel you never know what you may discover. The best moments are those when a stranger smiles at you or you can become a part of their festivity without knowing their language something like http://edbourke.net/2013/08/01/monastiraki-street-party/. To some extent travelling with your near and dear ones brings you closer to them http://theadventuresofadr.com/2013/11/15/were-leaving-traveling-the-states-on-the-american-railways/. Life is not a bed of roses.Travelling comes with its own troubles. First you cant be shopping too much as you are travelling. You may face some weather hazards like http://quitealone.com/2013/12/08/snow-jordan/. You may have to walk to rough lands to catch that breathtaking sunrise http://harindabama.com/2013/07/29/the-unforgiving-rinjani/ but then when you see the sunrise all your effort is rewarded. You may even discover some new cuisines to add to your kitchen. As you travel your mind opens up.

For all those who are planning to take that much awaited trip, just make your resolution. It is not easy to go for a long trip, therefore start with small weekend trips and then plan for the bigger ones.

Day 4: Explore the Neighborhood

Today’s challenge was to look for blogs which I would like to follow. I chose the following five blogs:

http://blackeiffel.blogspot.in/
This contains photographs on various themes. I feel a picture speaks a thousand words. Thus a good blog should be a perfect combination of photos and text. I loved this blog for the photographs it has.

http://authorleefrench.wordpress.com/
This is the second blog I followed. Its on reviews of books. I have already stated in the previous blogs that I like to read. Also I have my own book review blog http://sanchitasarkar.wordpress.com/. Reading other book review blogs not only informs me about other good books but also allows me to improve my blog.

The third blog I followed was this one. It deals with the subject of travelling. I also enjoy travelling and sightseeing. I feel blogs often give us additional information about places to travel and the things to take care of. Since myriad notions is going to be about everything I feel and travelling is also a part of it, I chose this blog. Also she has added twitter comments and instagram to it.

http://cylithria.me/
This is the blog of a writer. As I am also looking at blogging to improve my writing skills, I am following this blog so that I can see blogs with good content to read.

http://onesahmscrazylife.wordpress.com/about/
In this blog a housewife speaks about her daily experiences. As I want to know about lifestyles in different countries, this blog will give me an opportunity to understand the life in USA.

Today’s exercise just gave me an insight that there are many people like me around the world. Blogging has given me an opportunity to connect to them. Thankyou wordpress.

About Myriad Notions

The other day I came accross an interesting article but I was too tired to talk about it to anyone. I went to sleep and the next day I was too busy to mention it to anyone. This happens with most of us with our busy lives. We are almost moving into a cocoon. We feel something or the other for each article we read, for each discussion we have, each movie we see or each place we visit. We are unable to share many of these feelings because of our busy schedule. By the time we are free and in a group, the immidiate reaction almost vanishes.

I have started this blog to write about anything and everything I feel. I love to read both fiction and non-fiction as well as travel. Both these hobbies give me ample scope of discussion. I also feel that many people will be guided by my experiences and hope to be guided by many of my reader’s experiences through their comments. Therefore I have started this blog. Thus this blog represents my innumerable or myriad views or notions.

To Read or to eRead.

null

Recently I read an article about the increase in sales of e-Readers. Almost every publishing company has started its own e-Reader whether kindle or nook. This definitely is a good news for budding authors as publishing an eBook is less expensive than publishing a hard copy book. Also having an eReader does not require one to maintain a cabinet for books. With an eReader in hand one can read any book any time. This is particularly important for those who travel a lot. This has created a debate whether eBooks will replace books and libraries will be a thing of the past. It has almost become a question of whether to read or to eRead.

The other day I saw the photo of an old library of the city. It brought back memories of my college. The interiors were huge with pin drop silence. The presence of books reminded me of my summer vacations when we used to share books so that we can read more. This also increased our friend circle and helped us to find like minded people. Books have always been the best ice-breakers for me. One cannot gift an eBook to anyone. Also the thought of mother reading a fairy tale from a book, with beautiful pictures, to children would never be same if the book were an ebook. Also facing a screen continuously has side effects. Hence it is difficult to say whether eReaders will be able to replace the experience of having a hard bound book. As for me, I still love the fragrance of fresh binding.
